I am an obstetrician gynaecologist working in private and public practice on the lower north shore and inner west of Sydney. I am a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).
I am passionate about obstetrics and have dedicated myself to developing the skills and knowledge to provide the best, most up-to-date care for my patients. I am generous with my time and aim to listen and empower women to make the best choice for themselves. I guide and accompany women and their families on this most exciting and sometimes challenging journey. I love working with my team to assist women to achieve the best experience of childbirth.
Practicing on the lower north shore and in the inner west I am able to care for you at a hospital of your choice from amongst some of the best hospitals in Sydney including The Mater Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
I have achieved a wide range of well-developed skills throughout my training. I completed my Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where I was both the Senior Registrar and Pelvic Surgery Fellow.
I then took my young family and passion for obstetrics to Europe working at the world-renowned National Maternity Hospital in Dublin where I was the Labour Ward Research Fellow.
Through my experiences in Dublin working and conducting research in a birthing unit that delivers over 10,000 babies a year, I developed a deep understanding of labour and the birthing process.
In my role as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital I lead the birthing unit, high-risk obstetric clinics and innovative gynaecological clinics.
My regular experience working in a tertiary referral hospital at the highest level of women’s health and maternity care allows me to be always up to date and confident managing the most complex situations. I am committed to teaching and research.
I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and a clinical tutor and mentor of medical students and the next generation of obstetricians and gynaecologists. I have several publications in scientific journals and regularly collaborate on research projects at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
My high-risk obstetric interests include caring for women requiring assessment in early pregnancy, cervical cerclage for cervical incompetence, women with diabetes or other complex medical conditions and pregnant women who have previously had caesarean sections (VBAC) or other surgery that may affect their pregnancy and delivery.
I have many years of experience successfully looking after women with these difficulties during pregnancy and childbirth. I am often consulted by women who have sadly experienced previous pregnancy losses, adverse outcomes or whose previous birthing experience has not gone to plan.
As a gynaecologist and laparoscopic surgeon, I provide advice and management including surgical management for all general gynaecological problems in particular the investigation and management of abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain and contraception. This includes follow up of abnormal cervical screening tests with colposcopy and surgical treatment if required.
I am happily married to a fantastic woman who is the mother of my three wonderful teenage children. My downtime vice is swimming (preferably in the ocean) with the occasional sail around Sydney’s great harbour.
